How much electricity does your refrigerator use?

Document Actions

The library has WATT Solutions kits available that can measure how much electricity your household appliances use.

In effort to help you learn how to spend less on electricity by using less, Ameren Illinois Utilities has sponsored the WATT Solutions program, a partnership with downstate Illinois public libraries.

The Ameren Illinois Utilities have donated WATT Solutions kits with Kill A Watt EZ power meters to downstate library systems.  The donation allows library patrons to borrow WATT Solutions kits through their local libraries at no cost.

Evans Public Library has received two kits to be loaned out to patrons.  The loan period for the kit is 30 days.  The Watt Reader is a device that patrons will check out from the library that accurately measures how much electricity it takes to operate a variety of household appliances and calculates the actual and projected cost of the electricity used.  Patrons will plug the device into any 110 volt outlet in their home and then plug appliances into the device.  The Watt Reader includes instructions and is boxed for ease of circulation.  There is also an energy conservation brochure that may be kept by the patron.  For more information call Evans Public Library at 283-2824.
